RICHMOND — Washington Redskins wide receiver Andre Roberts finished his repetition, removed his helmet and began to walk away as new players shuffled into a 7-on-7 drill during Friday’s joint practice with the Houston Texans.
But wide receivers coach Ike Hilliard quickly waved him back to the line of scrimmage where he located himself in a new place before directing rookie wide receiver Evan Spencer where to go for the play.
After his first season with the Redskins in 2014, Roberts has gotten used to starting plays from an array of different spots as the team’s utility wide receiver.
