Alfred Morris: ‘We just didn’t rise to the occasion’

The suggestion that the Redskins are a run-first offense rings more hollow with each game.

Words, words, words.

In Sunday’s 27-10 loss at New England, Washington ran the ball just 15 times.

Coach Jay Gruden all but abandoned the run with his team trailing 17-3 at halftime, and the coach abandoned Matt Jones entirely after the rookie running back fumbled away what was shaping up as a promising drive to open the third quarter.

It was Jones’s third fumble of the season, punched out by defensive tackle Alan Branch almost the moment quarterback Kirk Cousins handed it off.
