ASHBURN, Va. -- When the play appeared on film, Washington Redskins rookie Preston Smith knew it was bad. He failed to sprint to the ball, something teammates had knocked him for in the past. And this time, against the New Orleans Saints, it resulted in a 60-yard touchdown run.
So teammates called him out.
"I knew that play wasn’t acceptable," Smith said. "They saw the same thing I saw, that I could easily have made the play if I gave more effort. At that time, when the whole group saw it, I knew it was a problem.
