Washington Redskins rookie pass rusher Preston Smith played a career-high 45 snaps on Sunday. It appears, at least for now, that Smith has overtaken Trent Murphy for the outside linebacker spot opposite Ryan Kerrigan. Smith has an abundance of talent, but has taken time to develop. He’s shown flashes in most games, but there are also plays where he goes missing. Against Chicago, Smith began to make his presence felt a little more consistently than he has done so far this season.
Smith’s preferred pass-rush move appears to be to take a tackle outside before working back inside.
