Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan emphasized getting bigger, tougher guys in the draft. In second-round pick Preston Smith, that’s exactly what he’ll get.
Smith measures in at 6 feet 5, 271 pounds, making him perfectly sized to play outside linebacker in Washington’s 3-4 defense.
The first thing that jumps out when you watch Smith is his length. He has long arms that measure at 34 inches, longer than many offensive tackles. He uses that length to his advantage.
Here, Smith starts his rush with a stutter step inside before trying to get to the edge.
