Redskins rookie guard Brandon Scherff had plenty of eyes on him on his debut. Offensive linemen tend to go unnoticed unless they make a mistake. But Scherff’s first NFL start came against Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Suh is one of the best, if not the best, defensive tackles in football. He is a tough matchup for any guard, let alone a rookie. But Scherff performed admirably in his debut, giving the Redskins a promising initial return on the investment made with the fifth overall pick.
Credit should go to Jay Gruden, Sean McVay and Bill Callahan, who put together a game plan that gave Scherff as much help as they could.
