The big question asked of Kirk Cousins after he was named the Redskins’ starting quarterback was how he could handle pressure. When he got his shot at the starting job last year, Cousins cracked under pressure and threw interceptions. But against the Eagles, Cousins and wide receiver Pierre Garcon performed well in a clutch situation. Needing a touchdown in the final two minutes of the game, Cousins connected with Garcon three times, two resulting in first downs and the other a game-winning touchdown.
The first big play from Cousins and Garcon came on third and six. Cousins just had a first-down scramble negated by penalties on both the offense and defense, forcing the Redskins to replay the down.
