A lot was made of Washington’s decision to draft Brandon Scherff with the fifth overall pick and then move him to right guard. Many questioned the value of the pick, suggesting better players could have been available. But by the end of the season, most of those concerns had been alleviated. Scherff combined with second-year right tackle Morgan Moses to form a solid young partnership on the right side of the offensive line. Scherff was drafted to help bring strength and toughness to the line. He has an old-school lineman’s mentality, bringing a nasty streak that was evident from his first game.
