For a second straight year, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III on Wednesday was named the recipient of the “Redskins Salute Award,” which honors a player for their involvement with the military community.
The son of two U.S. Army sergeants, Robert Griffin III knows a thing or two about the military lifestyle.
With that lifestyle can come the highest of highs – the thrill of serving one’s country – and, unfortunately, the lowest of the lows – like losing a family member or friend in the line of duty.
So when he’s not playing quarterback for the Washington Redskins, Griffin III enjoys spending his time enlightening the lives of those who, like his parents, have dedicated their lives to service.
