Redskins vs. Giants: What You Need To Know From Washington's 20-14 Win

The Washington Redskins moved into a tie for first place with the New York Giants by beating them 20-14 on Sunday afternoon, putting them in control of their own playoff destiny. Here's everything you need to know from today's game:

Notes:

Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins continued his hot streak, completing at least 69 percent of this passes for the third straight game and throwing at least one touchdown in every game this season. He also recorded a QB Rating higher than 114 for the third time in five games.

Washington held New York to a season-low 33 total rushing yards on 13 carries. Shane Vereen was the Giants' leading rusher with 15 yards.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning had the 20th three-interception performance of his career. He finished completing 26/51 passes for 321 yards and two touchdowns.

Quotes:

"This is big for us, and it felt a little personal because they're kicked our tail the last couple times." - Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan.

"We still have a lot of football left...it's going to come down to how we finish." - Manning.

"When we play focused, when we protect the football, we can be tough to beat." - Redskins head coach Jay Gruden.

Observations:

The Redskins go as Cousins goes. Washington is now 5-0 in games in which Cousins does not throw an interception, while they are 0-6 in games in which he does. He has been inconsistent all season, but he also plays much better at home, where the 'Skins are 5-1. Washington only has two games left in Landover, but they do have four games remaining against less-than-stellar defenses in Dallas (twice), Chicago, and Philadelphia. The opportunity is there for Cousins to lead the Redskins to the playoffs - now he just has to take it.

Odell Beckham Jr. is amazing. Just when some of the luster from his incredible catch against the Cowboys last year was starting to wear off, he goes out and does this:

He finished with nine catches for 142 yards and that score.
