Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins played under the franchise tag for the second straight year in 2017, continuing to create lingering questions about his future with the team.
Cousins has said that he wants to stay with the Redskins for the rest of his career, but given Washington's seeming reluctance to commit to him long-term, he is open to exploring other options on the open market this offseason.
Several teams are in need of a quarterback this offseason, namely the Cleveland Browns, and Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com said that “Kirk Cousins would seriously consider the Browns” if they pursued him.
However, it's unclear if that opportunity will present itself. Cleveland has both the No. 1 and No. 4 overall picks in the 2018 NFL Draft, and are expected to take a quarterback with one of those picks.

Among the other teams expected to pursue a quarterback on the open market this offseason are the Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New York Giants.
The Redskins are hoping to work out a long-term deal with Cousins, but if not, they can tag him again - to the tune of $34.5 million for the 2018 season.
Cousins, who is expected to command a contract of at least $25 million a year, passed for 4,093 yards with 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions this past season. It marked the third straight year in which he has passed for over 4,000 yards since becoming Washington's starting quarterback.
