It’s been a quiet offseason for the Washington Redskins so far, but there's still plenty of intrigue surrounding the team. Here are the top storylines to watch this season:
1) RGIII and Jay Gruden's relationship
Redskins head coach Jay Gruden benched Griffin last year and said he was "done" with him as a quarterback, yet RGIII enters the season as the starter. Griffin needs to prove he can be a reliable starting QB in the league and that his rookie season wasn't a fluke, but his relationship with the head coach will be very intriguing.
2) How much better will the defense be?
Washington had one of the league’s worst defenses in 2014, but they greatly improved the unit with a number of key offseason signings. The Redskins have brought in DT Terrance Knighton, CB Chris Culliver, and S Dashon Golson, all of whom have proven they can be very productive starters in the NFL. Washington is essentially starting from the ground up on that side of the ball, but they will be vastly improved in 2015.
3) Can their young talent produce?
The Redskins just got much younger and much more athletic on the right side of their offensive line with first round pick Brandon Scherff. He’s the headliner of a massive draft class full of solid upside picks (Arie Kouandjio, Matt Jones) and developmental projects in the back half. Watch out for Austin Reiter, Washington's seventh round pick. He’s got size and power galore that could translate well to the NFL level if he can refine his techniques.
