There are two types of Redskins fans this free agency. There are those who are disappointed at the lack of a big splash thus far and those who are happy they haven't broke the bank for one player as normal, but instead signed three less-known potential starters.
History shows the Redskins don't have the best luck when it comes to high-priced free agents. Do I even need to list the failures? I'm sure a few instantly came to mind.
If you're currently freaking out because they have yet to address the abysmal defensive secondary, I'm here to calm you down a little.
Yes, Jairus Byrd, Aqib Talib and Michael Mitchell were all top players that were on the Redskins radar and are no longer available, but if we did sign one of them to a huge deal, would we be able to address the other gaping holes on the team? Would we have the cap room for future contracts for players such as Alfred Morris, Ryan Kerrigan and RGIII or the upcoming draft?
There are still a lot of quality free agents at a cheaper price that can make a huge difference on the team. Not to mention, Ravens former slot corner Corey Graham is scheduled to visit the Redskins today and former Steelers safety Ryan Clark to shortly follow.
1. Chris Clemons: The 28-year-old started the last two years for the Dolphins at safety. Last year he posted 92 combined tackles and one interception. If signed, he would be a starter immediately.
2. Thomas DeCoud: The 28-year-old former Falcons safety only accounted for 65 combined tackles and zero interceptions last year, a huge let down from his Pro Bowl season of 76 combined tackles and six interceptions in 2012, but would still be a force to reckon with in our secondary. He does have play-making abilities and if signed, he could return to his Pro Bowl form at a much cheaper rate than Byrd or Mitchell.

There are formidable starters at corner as well.
1. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie: The 6-foot-2, 27-year-old started 13 games for the AFC Champions Denver Broncos last year. Rodgers-Cromartie is a proven starter and can be signed at a much cheaper rate than Talib. He grabbed three interceptions, scoring a touchdown on one, and had 32 combined tackles. He was also tasked with checking the opponent's best receiver last year.

2. Captain Munnerlyn: Last year, Munnerlyn had a breakout season for the Panthers with 73 combined tackles, two interceptions and five sacks. Another young asset who is entering in his prime and can start immediately for us. He is another corner who lined up against the opponent's #1 receiver.

3. Walter Thurmond, the initial slot corner for the Seahawks' "Legion of Boom" last year proved he could do more after filling in for suspended starter Brandon Browner. He showed he could handle outside and slot receivers without a problem. Thurmond posted 32 combined tackles and his one interception went for a touchdown.
