Former Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis lasted all of one month with the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots before he was cut by the team on Friday.
Here's Timothy Rapp of Bleacher Report with the story:
After being reinstated to the league after missing the entirety of the 2014 season due to a suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, the Patriots signed him to a one-year deal in early May. He was expected to compete to be the team's third-string tight end, behind Rob Gronkowski and Scott Chandler.
Clearly, he didn't impress the team's coaching staff at this week's minicamp. He was the second tight end to be cut this week by New England, as Tim Wright was also released and eventually claimed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Davis, 29, spent his entire NFL career with the Redskins before he was cut by the team this offseason.
