Redskins News: Jury convicts man connected to fatal shooting of Sean Taylor

In today's Redskins news update, a Florida jury has convicted a man termed as the leader of a 2007 Miami-area burglary attempt, which led to the fatal shooting of the Washington Redskins' Sean Taylor.

Per the Associated Press report (via ESPN.com), "the 12-person jury deliberated nearly four hours Tuesday before finding 25-year-old Jason Mitchell guilty of first-degree felony murder and armed burglary. Trial testimony indicated that Mitchell hatched the plot for five Fort Myers-area men to burglarize Taylor's home near Miami after previously seeing large amounts of cash there."

The man who fired the shot which killed Taylor, Eric Rivera Jr., was found guilty of second-degree murder last fall and was sentenced to 57 years in prison.

There are still two other men awaiting trial on charges related to the case, with a third man recently pleading guilty to second-degree murder and burglary.

Sean Taylor was a two-time Pro Bowl safety (2006-07) with the Redskins and was named Big East Defensive Player of the Year during the 2003 season with the Miami Hurricanes.
