In Redskins news today, the Washington Redskins and new head coach Jay Gruden could turn to the 2014 NFL Draft as a means of finding another tight end to pair with Jordan Reed.
Per Rich Tandler of the Real Redskins blog, "there are many who think that Redskins tight end Jordan Reed has Pro Bowl potential after a promising rookie year. Could Gruden push to add another tight end into the mix via the draft in hopes of duplicating the two-TE production he got in Cincinnati?"
Tandler is referring to the duo of Jermaine Gresham and Tyler EIfer who combined for over 1,000 receiving yards under then-Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden in 2013.
However, looking at the current depth at the top of the board for tight ends, Tandler sees it as a challenge of Gruden is looking to employ that same scheme through draft acquisition:
"He could, be it won’t be easy. The Redskins don’t have a first-round pick so they will not have a shot at Eric Ebron out of North Carolina, the consensus top tight end in the draft. He should go in the top half of the first round, if not the top 10."
