In this Redskins news update, Washington Redskins star wide receiver DeSean Jackson's status is still up in the air for the team's Week 3 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Head coach Jay Gruden isn't going to rush Jackson on the field if he's not fully recovered.
“I think he’s gonna be a game-day type deal," Gruden said to ESPN 980's Brian Mitchell, via Michael David Smith of NBC's Pro Football Talk. "He wants to go really bad — obviously he’s going back to Philly. But if he’s not 100 percent — if he’s 60-70 percent — he’s really not that good to us.”
When Mitchell, a former NFL running back and return man, added that NFL players rarely play at 100 percent, Gruden offered this next quip up.
“I know, but he’s already 160 pounds,” Gruden said. “He’s already a very terrible blocker. We’ll see. I think he wants to play. He’s a tough guy. He is allowed to wear shoulder pads, so he might be all right.”
Gruden's joke aside, Jackson's status will likely come down to a before-kickoff decision - so plan your fantasy lineups accordingly.
