A week after Robert Griffin III called out teammates after a loss to the Bucs - a game in which the quarterback was ineffective himself - he is on the proverbial hot seat as the Redskins starter heading into Sunday's tilt in San Francisco.
According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Redskins head coach Jay Gruden addressed the situation, stating that he would bench Griffin if his play continues to cost the team.
In that case, Colt McCoy would take over for the Redskins offense. McCoy took over for previous number-two Kirk Cousins and won two games during RGIII's recovery from an ankle injury earlier this season.
It isn't clear if Gruden would give the starting reigns to McCoy for more than just this week's game, but it's obvious Gruden is becoming impatient with the Redskins starting quarterback.
Griffin III has a chance to save his job with a strong performance in San Francisco, but look for McCoy to be ready to go at any moment.
