This game looked like an even battle on paper, but the Redskins came out flat and never matched Tampa's intensity.
Turning Point:
This one was effectively over when Mike Evans hauled in his first TD pass of the day with 4:36 remaining in the third quarter. While a 13-point lead isn't insurmountable for most NFL teams, it was much more than the Redskins were capable of overcoming today.
Redskins MVP:
LB Keenan Robinson wasn't incredible today, but he had a solid game and played with effort and intensity. That's more than you can say about the vast majority of his teammates.
Bucs MVP:
Rookie WR Mike Evans had himself a DAY. Evans had 209 receiving yards and two touchdowns on seven receptions, and the Redskins secondary had no answer for him.
Stat of the Day:
The 209 receiving yards Evans put up will temporarily vault him into the NFL's top 10 receivers in terms of total yardage. Depending on results elsewhere, he could stay there even after this weekend.
On The Hot Seat?
Rookie head coaches generally get more time to work things out, but the on-field apathy and behind-the-scenes chaos in Washington can't be good for Jay Gruden's job security. He'll probably make it to the end of the season, but this raises some very real questions.
What's Next?
The reeling Redskins host the San Francisco 49ers next weekend, while the Bucs hit the road for a game against the struggling Chicago Bears.
