The Washington Redskins hold the No. 17 pick in the NFL Draft after a somewhat disappointing 2016 campaign, and this team is looking to add an impact player that can help them return to the playoffs next season. Here are three players the Redskins should target in the first round:
1) Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State
The off-the-field worries around Dalvin Cook are real, with buzz that he could fall out of the first round. I'm not quite willing to go that far, but it is a worry. Of course, with the Redskins' front office overhaul, they're back to their old ways. Time for a new shiny toy that will help upgrade the ground game.
2) Malik McDowell, DT, Michigan State
The Redskins want to build through the trenches and that's exactly what this pick would allow them to do. McDowell hasn't lived up to his potential yet, but he has all the tools to be a dominant force along the defensive line. He'd be a great 3-4 DE for the Redskins and has the added versatility to play anywhere along the line.
3) Jabrill Peppers, S, Michigan
Peppers has a ton of hype around him, although his level of play and NFL prospects aren't quite as high as that hype might suggest. He's a jack of all trades, master of none and needs to work on his coverage skills. However, he has all the physical tools to be a great player even if his position is a little unclear. There might be some overlap with Peppers and Su'a Cravens (who is moving to safety), but this is solid value and the Redskins can find a spot for him.
