The Washington Redskins hold the No. 17 pick in the NFL Draft after a somewhat disappointing 2016 campaign, and this team is looking to add an impact player that can help them return to the playoffs next season. Here are three players the Redskins should target in the first round of the draft:
Malik McDowell, DT, Michigan State
The Redskins want to build through the trenches and that's exactly what this pick allows them to do. McDowell hasn't lived up to his potential yet, but he has all the tools to be a dominant force along the defensive line. He'd be a great 3-4 DE for the Redskins and has the added versatility to play anywhere along the line.
Jabrill Peppers, S, Michigan
Peppers has a ton of hype around him, although his level of play and NFL prospects aren't quite as high as that hype might suggest. He's a jack of all trades, master of none and needs to work on his coverage skills. However, he has all the physical tools to be a great player even if his position is a little unclear. There might be some overlap with Peppers and Su'a Cravens (who is moving to safety), but this is solid value and the Redskins can find a spot for him.
Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan
There is a chance that Charlton will be off the board by the time the Redskins pick, but he’s another versatile player that would provide Washington with value along the defensive line. Charlton is best as a 4-3 DE, but has enough strength and athleticism to be a 3-4 DE or try his hand as a pass rushing OLB.
