The Washington Redskins are hoping to win the NFC East and make the playoffs for the second straight year, but a few overrated players on their roster could keep them from reaching those goals. Here are the three most overrated players on the Redskins:
QB Kirk Cousins
Cousins caught lightning in a bottle last year, passing for 4,166 yards and 29 touchdowns in his first full season as a starter, but there is some fool's gold in those numbers. His completion percentage dropped 10 percent on the road, and he also threw 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions in those games (compared to 16 and two at home). He also never beat a team with a winning record last year - something he has to do this year for the Redskins to reach their goals.
RB Matt Jones
Jones isn't a household name, so he may be a bit of a surprise on this list, but Washington expects him to be the the full-time starter after they let Alfred Morris walk. After his breakout game against the Rams in Week 3, Jones only averaged more than 3.5 yards per carry in just one game. That inability to find consistent running lanes will hurt the Redskins this year.
CB Josh Norman
Getting Norman was a huge get for the Redskins. While I still expect him to be a good player in Washington, a large part of his success in Carolina was due to the system and the other defensive stars on the Panthers. He played like the top cornerback in the league last year, and the Redskins paid him as such.
There are signs that he's simply a one-hit wonder. He didn't record a single interception over the last 15 games of the season - including the playoffs - and saw his impact decrease as the season wore on. Chances are, he won't be able to duplicate his success in D.C. without the same supporting cast around him.
