The Washington Capitals split their two games this week, beating the impressive Montreal Canadiens behind two goals by T.J. Oshie. The Washington Capitals were not as fortunate on their trip to Winnipeg, where the Jets outlasted the Caps and won 2-1 on a Mark Scheifele goal late in the overtime period.
The Washington Capitals were heavily outplayed in Montreal, but a stellar performance by Braden Holtby and two flukey goals by Oshie were enough to defeat the Eastern Conference’s best team. Holtby faced 35 shots, including 9 alone from Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty.
