There were many heroes in this game. Martin Fehervary made his NHL and Washington Capitals debut and was presented the hard hat after playing 13:35 and the 19-year old fared well next to Radko Gudas.
There was Alex Ovechkin, who scored Washington’s first goal of the season. Dmitry Orlov, who’s off to a good start now after a down season a year ago. Braden Holtby practically stood on his head to keep the Caps in the game and deserves credit for this win as well.
And then you have Jakub Vrana, one of the biggest priorities of this past offseason in terms of re-signing.
