The Washington Capitals had yet another slow start tonight against a hungry Minnesota Wild team but managed a comeback 3-2 win on home ice. The first period was ugly for the Caps, but as has become the trend, Washington got stronger as the game went on.
The Capitals did themselves no favors by taking three penalties in the first period to none on the Wild. On their third power play, the Wild finally cashed in as Mikko Koivu tipped a shot to put the visitors ahead. Brooks Orpik, legendary goal scorer, tied the game early in the second, but a few minutes later Nino Niederreiter got behind Taylor Chorney, filling in for the injured John Carlson.
