The Washington Capitals signed their first NCAA free agent today when they agreed to terms with former Mercyhurst College goaltender Adam Carlson. It is a two year entry level contract.

Carlson, 22, posted a 7-7-3 record with Mercyhurst College (NCAA) this season with a 2.85 goal-against average and a .919 save percentage. The 6’3”, 180-pound goaltender ranked tied for fifth in the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) in save percentage this season, 10th in saves (536) and 11th in goals-against average and wins.
