Nicklas Backstrom will achieve a big milestone when he takes the ice for the Washington Capitals tonight against the Buffalo Sabres. Backstrom is expected to suit up in his 984th career game, passing Calle Johansson for the second most games played in franchise history. He leads the Caps in goals and points against the Sabres with four goals and three assists.
In 47 career games against theSabres, Backstrom has 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points. Excluding the Vegas Golden Knights, the Caps will become one of three franchises to have each of their top two leaders in games played on their active roster, joining Alex Ovechkin.
