With the NCAA hockey season winding down, the Washington Capitals and every other team around the league will be keeping a close eye on a handful of young and talented collegiate players that will look to become pros. Each year, we see teams competing for one or more of these coveted NCAA players, the most recent example being defenseman Mike Reilly who signed with the Minnesota Wild last season.
The Washington Capitals have an NCAA signing of their own in Nate Schmidt. With just one pick in the top three rounds this offseason, it is worth speculating on whether or not the Caps could decide to pursue one or more of these highly-touted free agents.
