The Washington Capitals used their third draft pick of the afternoon on another defenseman when they selected Joaquim Lemay. Unlike the previous two defensemen the Caps selected, Lemay has a left handed shot. The Caps took him in the fourth round at 119th overall.

Lemay played on the Salmon Arm of the BCHL last season. He had 10 assists in 15 games and two penalty minutes. The St.-Perre-les-Becquets, Quebec, native ranked second among Salmon Arm defensemen in points and tied for second among rookie BCHL defensemen in assists.
