Washington Capitals right winger Dmitrij Jaskin was brought in for some bottom six depth last season. He played in 37 games and recorded eight points (2 goals, 6 assists) but other than the regular season finale hadn’t suited up for a Capitals game since Feb. 17.
In Friday’s Czech Republic win in the IIHF World Championship, Jaskin’s two goals were part of an eight-goal barrage on Team Italy. There was only one goal scored in the first period from Milan Gulas. A four-goal second signaled the night was on.
First it was Radko Gudas, then Michael Frolik and Jan Kovar.
