ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals hosted a street hockey clinic at D.C. Public School’s Shepherd Elementary School featuring alumnus Alan May on Feb. 17. The event coincided with the launch of a new street hockey curriculum district-wide, developed by the Capitals in partnership with DCPS.
Beginning this month, 111 public schools across Washington, D.C., will introduce more than 48,000 of the district’s students to hockey through a multi-week street hockey curriculum, which will become a core unit in the physical education program.
At Shepherd, May directed a street hockey session in the school’s gymnasium with fifth-grade students.
