It was Ovechkin’s seventh goal of the season and the 713th of his career. He now sits five goals shy of passing Phil Esposito (717 goals) for the sixth most goals in NHL history. Ovechkin’s most recent goal was his 362nd career goal scored on the road, which is tied with Steve Yzerman for the second most in NHL history.
