Over their 42 season history, the Washington Capitals have had some amazing players. They’ve retired four numbers – Yvon Labre, Mike Gartner, Dale Hunter and Rod Langway. These four numbers are all meaningful, each for a different reason.
The Caps have a lower standard than some other teams when it comes to retiring numbers. Retiring Labre’s number five and Dale Hunter’s number 32 proves this. And that’s fine. But why not raise some more numbers to the rafters of the Verizon Center?
