Tom Wilson was flat on his stomach as he watched the puck slip between goaltender Jonathan Bernier’s legs, bank off his skate and into the goal. He rolled over and raised his arms, part celebration and part relief for a player who had just snapped a 37-game stretch without a goal.
This one, his first of the season, came with about 30 family and friends in the stands at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre to see his only trip to his hometown this season.
“I’m not going to tell you how much money I spent on tickets, but it’s not a cheap night,” Wilson said.
