T.J. Oshie, who missed Thursday’s practice with the flu, won’t travel with the Washington Capitals to Newark for Friday’s game against the New Jersey Devils. Coach Barry Trotz said Oshie could fly up Friday morning if he’s feeling better, but it seems unlikely.
The Capitals return to Washington on Saturday to play the St. Louis Blues, Oshie’s former team.
“Just a flu bug, I think,” Trotz said.
The forward lines in practice had Justin Williams as the first-line right wing with Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom. Marcus Johansson moved back to the wing on the second line, which put Jay Beagle at third-line center.
