The Washington Capitals released their media guide Monday morning and there was their newest addition on the cover, hovering behind his captain and current linemate, next to an illustration of the Capitol. In several hours, forward T.J. Oshie would make his Verizon Center debut, at least from the home side, and the anticipation had already begun to build.
“I think there’s a little sentiment to it,” he said. “It’ll be nice to put on the official sweater for the first time and get out there, get established in the new arena.”
For now, at least until Coach Barry Trotz makes good on his promise to tinker with his forward trios during the exhibition opener against Carolina, Oshie will start his Washington tenure opposite Alex Ovechkin, on a top line centered by Evgeny Kuznetsov.
