Three-Goal Second Period Propels Washington Capitals to 4-1 Win Over Devils

The Washington Capitals responded in that middle stanza with three unanswered goals and it would turn out to be the difference in a 4-1 win over the New Jersey Devils. The Capitals have now won nine of their past 11 games.

Thanks to the Bruins shutting out the Islanders 5-0, the Capitals are now all alone in first place atop the Metropolitan Division. Their record improves to 43-23-7 with 93 points. If the season ended today, Washington would face the Hurricanes, who defeated the Penguins on Tuesday in the shootout.

Andre Burakovsky put the Capitals up 1-0 with a great shot from the left face-off area that landed top-right corner past Devils goalie Cory Schneider for his 12th goal of the season.
