Through 51 games this year, Holtby and Grubauer have faced a combined 1232 shots at even strength, putting them on pace for roughly 1980 by the end of the year - 70-80 more than they’ve had in each of the three previous seasons, where they’ve averaged around 23 even-strength shots a night.
Despite the uptick in shots faced at evens, both goalies have maintained relatively strong save percentages, down from last year but higher than their 2015-16 marks (with Philipp Grubauer checking in among the League’s top-five ES sv%, minimum 15 GP).
