2 - Number of days remaining until the start of the Capitals’ 2020-21 season. But it’s also...
... the number of Capitals who finished in the top-15 in voting for the Hart Trophy (League MVP) last season. John Carlson (12th-place finish) and Alex Ovechkin (13th) made the Caps one of three teams with multiple top-15 finishers (Edmonton, Boston), and became the first Caps duo to finish as high since 2016-17, when Nicklas Backstrom, Braden Holtby and Ovechkin finished 9th, 10th and 12th, respectively. Carlson’s votes were the first he’s received for the award in his career, while Ovechkin, of course, has won the trophy three times (only Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe and Eddie Shore have won more) and received at least one vote 14 times, only missing in 2011-12.
