Super Dud

The Caps game out of the bye week with a seven-game losing streak, but cut that streak on Friday with a 4-3 win against the Flames. Set up for a Super Bowl Sunday matinee against the Boston Bruins – a team that hasn’t beat them in a million years – the Caps fell 1-0, skating lackadaisically up until about 7 minutes to go before they started putting on real pressure. Despite a late push, the Caps couldn’t get a shot in.

The Bruins outshot the Caps, 38-24, but at one point were being outshot 27-8.

Branden Holtby was the second star of the game with 37 saves, right behind Boston goalie Tuukka Rask.
