Weinstein played all last season as part of the Cincinnati Cyclones, playing 52 games there with 22 points (three goals, 19 assists). He earned a four game call-up to the eventual Calder Cup Champion Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League, notching one assist. Weinstein’s rights were acquired as “future considerations” in the Colin Mulvey trade.
“When I heard it was South Carolina, I was excited,” Weinstein said. “When I got the call early in the summer and I found out I was involved in a trade, it was a different experience because I have never been traded.
