HOCKEY IS BACK IN THE NATION’S CAPITAL, HALLELUJAH!!

With a prospect showcase on tap tonight, the Boston Bruins got on the board first, thanks to a Cameron Hughes redirection in front of Braden Holtby. It was 1-0.

But Washington’s Riley Barber quickly scoffed, “Anything you can do, I can do cooler.” Barber redirected an Alexander Alexeyev shot at the other end into the back of the net, knotting this one at 1-1.

But popping out of the box after a 2-minute holding penalty, Boston’s Jakub Lauko caught a sneaky stretch pass behind the defense and beat Holtby to make it 2-1 at the break.
