Prosecution of Washington Capitals F Mike Richards over possession of controlled substance stayed

Washington Capitals forward Mike Richards has had charges of possessing a controlled substance - oxycodone - stayed by a judge in Manitoba, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is reporting.

An independent source confirmed that the charges, filed last summer when Richards was crossing into Canada from the United States, have been stayed, meaning the charges stayed means they have been discontinued as opposed to withdrawn which opens the door to a slight possibility they could be revisited within one year, the CBC reported.
