Once again, Caps Outsider participated in the Leap Towards a Cure hockey tournament this past weekend at the Gardens Ice House in Laurel. Proceeds from the tournament – this year it was more than $25,000 – go to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, via the Andrea Henderson Memorial Fund. In it’s sixth year, the tournament is played in memory of Andrea ‘Froggy’ Henderson, who was an art teacher at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland. She was also the faculty sponsor of the school’s ice hockey team before passing away from cancer in 2009.
