With a looooong empty net goal Friday – the 626th of his career, Alex Ovechkin past both Joe Sakic and Jerome Iginla for sole possession of 15th place on the all-time NHL goals list.
The next player that Ovechkin will pass is Dave Andreychuk, who has 640 career goals. And if he has a really good year, which he’s certainly doing, he may pass Brendan Shanahan later this season, who has 656 career goals.
Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin became the 20th player in NHL history to score 600 career regular season goals.
