The Washington Capitals are the defending Stanley Cup champion, and they’ve started this season where they want to be: atop the Metro division, with a roaring offense led by Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, John Carlson and Evgeny Kuznetsof. For their fans, these are the dream moments they never, ever want to let go.
Ah, but we all know people are going to pick apart the Caps, as they’d do to any championship team. The Caps have flaws, and there was a reason they were unable to post a win streak of more than two games until the last four games: they haven’t been consistently good at keeping the puck out of the net.
