Mike Weber won't face suspension after boarding major

PITTSBURGH – Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Weber won’t face any league discipline after his boarding major and 10-minute misconduct in Sunday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Ten minutes and 39 seconds into the third period, Weber was called for boarding Pittsburgh’s Bryan Rust, who returned to the game. In a game in which the Capitals racked up 41 penalty minutes, Weber accounted for 19 of them: a double minor for roughing, a major for boarding and a 10-minute misconduct. Daniel Winnik also received a 10-minute misconduct for elbowing.

Capitals Coach Barry Trotz said after the game that he hadn’t taken a second look at the hit, but he didn’t seem concerned about any further discipline.
