Mike Weber makes Capitals debut and Daniel Winnik arrives in Washington

Daniel Winnik got to Verizon Center just as his new teammates were preparing to play one of his six former teams, the Pittsburgh Penguins. He got to meet everyone after the game, standing in the locker room with Barry Trotz, his new coach. On Wednesday night, he’ll make his Washington Capitals debut against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team that traded him on Sunday night.

Mike Weber joined the Capitals late last week after he was traded by the Buffalo Sabres, and he played in his first game with his new team on Tuesday night. In the first period, the arena video board showed him on the bench and fans applauded him as a way of welcoming him.
