Center Marcus Johansson was not at practice on Tuesday because of an illness, and Capitals Coach Barry Trotz said he doesn’t know if Johansson will play on Wednesday night against the Montreal Canadiens.
“We sent him home after he came today,” Trotz said. “We’ll see where he is tomorrow. He’ll probably skate, and then we’ll make that decision tomorrow.
“It’s just a flu. It’s going around right now, so the more we can keep him away, the better.”
The Capitals won’t have a morning skate on Wednesday. Johansson missed morning skate on Monday because of the illness, but Trotz said he would be probable for the game against the Arizona Coyotes.
