Leftovers from GM Brian MacLellan’s pre-postseason interview

There is a balcony hanging over the practice rink at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, connected to the offices of the Washington Capitals, and only rarely does general manager Brian MacLellan wander onto the perch and watch. In his first season as GM, he has existed mostly behind the scenes, occasionally emerging to oversee things, rarely speaking in public. He sits in the press box during games and almost always traveling with the team on the road, sure, but as far as NHL general managers go, he has shunned the spotlight and sought work in the shadows.

“He’s actually pretty quiet,” defenseman Brooks Orpik said.
